YOUTH FOOTBALL: Holmes and Bragg steer Daventry to victory

Daventry Town Under-14s continued their good start to the John Henry League season with a well-fought 2-1 win over Moulton.

Daventry dominated early on and nearly took the lead with Jamie Holmes hitting both the post and crossbar. However it was Moulton who took the lead.

Daventry’s heads didn’t drop and within minutes they equalised after Tom Brown’s strength on the ball and his fine cross was met by Holmes who finished in style.

The second half saw a lot of early pressure from Moulton, but Daventry kept them out.

Midway through the half Shaunn Bragg turned his defender and went on a run before firing home a stunning shot to make it 2-1. Luke Hill was voted man of the match by the parents.

DAVENTRY Town Under-12s fought out a thrilling 4-4 draw with Kingsthorpe Jets Typhoons.

Kingsthorpe started well and took the lead within five minutes. Cameron Waldock equalised after 27 minutes, and Daventry were 2-1 up just before half-time thanks to a strike from Lee Smith.

But a minute before the break Kingsthorpe equalised.

Kingsthorpe went 3-2 up early in the second half, oblt for Daventry to level again through Waldock.

Once again Kingsthorpe reacted well and went 4-3 up, but Max Adams was on hand to rescue a point for Dav.
