YOUTH FOOTBALL: Five-star Saxons cruise through in County Cup

Daventry Town Saxons Under-12s eased their way through to the next round of the County Cup with a 5-1 home victory against Cogenhoe & Kingsthorpe.

Report: Saxons were fastest out of the blocks and took control. Man-of-the-match Dylan Overton scored the opener, and Josh Adams made it 2-0.Cogenhoe pulled one back, Luke Barker Poole was rewarded for his dogged determination to restore Saxons’ two-goal cushion. DAVENTRY Town Vikings Under-14s twice came from behind to see off Grange Park 4-3.

Report: Grange Park opened the scoring, but within minutes Shaun Bragg equalised. After that Daventry took control of the game and should have gone ahead, but it was Park who regained the lead. Daventry’s heads didn’t drop and goal apiece for Tom Brown and Jamie Holmes saw Daventry go into half time 3-2 up. Brown then scored a great volley to make it 4-2. Park brought it back to 4-3, but Vikings held on.
