Woodford United have been handed a tough task in the first round proper of the FA Vase, as they face a home tie against AFC Rushden & Diamonds.

Rushden were runners-up in the UCL Division One last season, and have enjoyed an excellent start to the new season.

In former Long Buckby striker Russ Dunkley they possess one of the most prolific strikers around at this level.

He scored five times in their FA Cup replay win over Cockfosters last week.

The Vase tie will be played on October 19.

Woodford, who were beaten 4-1 in their UCL Division One clash at Rothwell Corinthians, are in NFA Junior Cup action when they host Peterborough Sports at Byfield Road.

At Rothwell last weekend, Brett Rosella fired the home side ahead after eight minutes.

Callum Plowright doubled the Corinthians advantage in the last minute of the first half.

Ryan Goodband added a 55th minute home third with Liam Hynes replying for the Reds a minute past the hour mark.

Goodband ended visiting comeback hopes with his second goal after 65 minutes.

Woodford team: Dom Roggero, Dan Carter, Craig Fowkes, Steve Grimley, Richard Pannell (Chris Moore), Karlo Morgan, Joel Young, Ricky Smith (Dale Spick), Eddie Stewart, Liam Hynes (Stuart Reid), Ben Jones.
