Woodford United will be hopeful of breaking their UCL duck on Saturday when they host fellow strugglers Rothwell Corinthians at Byfield Road.

The Reds have to date lost all 11 league games they have played this season, and the visit of fourth-from-bottom Corinthians may offer them a chance of getting some points on the board.

The east Northants side have managed only one win themselves this season, as well as three draws.

They have managed just one point on their travels so far, and that came from a 2-2 draw at Peterborough Sports last weekend.

Woodford will go into the game on the back of a 6-0 FA Vase defeat at the hands of AFC Rushden & Diamonds last weekend.

But manager Mitch Austin will have been encouraged by his team’s first-half performance in that fixture, with Diamonds only leading 1-0 at the break through a goal from former Long Buckby hitman Russell Dunkley.

Two goals in a minute early in the second half settled the outcome, though.

Former Woodford and Daventry Town frontman Nathan Liburd scored the visitors’ second after 51 minutes with another ex-Red Alfie Taylor making it 3-0 a minute later.

Matt Gearing scored number four six minutes past the hour, before Fazel Koriya scored the final two Diamonds goals on 68 and 80 minutes.

Woodford team: Dom Roggero, Izi Hassan (Chris Fury), Ridwan Emran, Steve Grimley, Kieran Worrall, Craig Fowkes, Jaser Sokolaj, Lee Colkin (Lee Golding), Eddie Stewart (Ryan Charles-Comery), Harry Beckley, Luke Beastall.
