Winners crowned champs

DAVCELONA claimed their title crown after winning the final game of the season in the Soccersixes six-a-side league.

Four goals in 30 minutes gave Davcelona a comfortable victory against Daventry Olympic.

The victory earns them their champions crown for season five of the Daventry Soccersixes six-a-side leagues.

Two goals apiece for Cory Bailey and Aaron Bishop put the gloss on a successful season which saw the side only lose three games through the 15 round season.

Next saw The Dons take on William Parker who were hoping to end the season on a high.

The Dons had the better of the opening play but against the run of play William Parker took a one-goal lead into half-time.

The second-half saw the Dons faster out the traps and level within two minutes of the restart.

Continual pressure eventually broke the Parker team and two more goals were scored to put the game out of their reach.

The final game of the evening had the most riding on after the Davcelona result as it would decide the runners-up for the season.

The game did not disappoint with Coach and Horses starting well with Aaron Crampton scoring a scorcher.

But within minutes of the restart Pen Island were 2-1 up and looked like bagging a comfortable victory.

Coach and Horses’ Steve Jones, added to his New Year goals list to make it 2-2 with two minutes to play.

Continual pressure from Coach and Horses saw a crowd expecting a winner to come.

But excellent goalkeeping kept it to a draw.

Although the draw was enough for second place, Coach and Horses will be hoping for the gold medal for the new season.

Previous results had cost Coach and Horses the title, but an excellent night of football was the perfect way to finish the season.
