Woodford United are celebrating again after claiming their second win in three matches, this time seeing off premier division side Newport Pagnell in the UCL KO Cup.

After suffering 65 defeats on the spin, Woodford stopped the rot with a 2-1 UCL Division One win at Blackstones 11 days ago.

They were narrowly beaten 1-0 at Raunds Town on Saturday, but bounced back superbly at Byfield Road on Tuesday, winning despite going a goal down after just 13 minutes.

Sloppy Pagnell defending was punished by Ryan Charles-Comery four minutes before half time.

Confidence boosted, Woodford took a 47th minute lead through Eddie Stewart, and Eathan Curtis sealed the Reds’ victory 13 minutes from time.

This Saturday, Mitch Austin’s men are back in league action when they entertain third-placed Harrowby in UCL Division One.

Long Buckby are still struggling to find their best form.

On Saturday they went down 4-1 to Holbeach in the UCL Premier Division, with the dismissal of goalkeeper Jak Riley proving pivotal.

He was dismissed just before the break, with Buckby leading 1-0 through a Dan Bucciero penalty.

Holbeach levelled from the penalty awarded for Riley’s foul, and went on to score three more in the second half.

On Tuesday, Buckby were beaten 1-0 at home by AFC Rushden & Diamonds.

Phil Mason’s men are without a game this Saturday, before entertaining Cogenhoe United next Tuesday night.
