SUNDAY FOOTBALL: Trill double not enough as Casey’s lose again

The long awaited clash between last season’s unbeaten champions and this season undefeated new comers ended with a decisive home win as London Calling triumphed 5-2.

Casey’s fell behind early on after some slack marking.

However they responded with some superb football with contributions from Captain Stuart Clarke,Alex OConnor and Leigh Roberts.

However Chris Trill stole the spotlight with two great goals to put Casey’s in the lead.

Calling hit back to lead 3-2 at half-time.

The second half saw Casey’s on the attack, but the home side took advantage of an over-extended midfield to hit two late goals and kill the game.

This week see’s Casey’s in the first round of the NFA cup against Rushden and Higham at Staverton Park (ko 10.30am).

In division two of the Rugby & District Sunday League, Casey’s reserves were 7-0 winners over Rugby Rocketts.

Chris “Geordie”Cowley led the rout with a hat trick followed by singles from Chris Shackelton,Sam Burke,Rob Horne and an own goal.

Manager Tony Burkett was full of praise for an excellent team performance and a great response to last weeks defeat.

Casey’s are away to the Bull in Rugby this week.
