Chris Trill scored a second-half hat-trick as AFC Casey’s secured a welcome 7-0 win over Barley Mow Rugby in division one of the Rugby & District Sunday League division One.
An early goal in the first half by Josh Hyams and a late strike by Paul Beevor separated the sides at the interval, despite Barley Mow having a lot of possession and chances.
Casey’s were left to thank defender Kevin Eales and goalkeeper Tom Consentino for preventing any breakthrough by the visitors.
The second half saw Casey’s move up a gear and produce some flowing football.
Second half goals were scored regularly, and came from Paul Beevor, Trill and Jack Gwillam, his first goal for the team.
Casey’s youngsters Josh Hyams and Will Guilford both produced excellent performances.
This Sunday Casey’s are at Prime Time in Rugby.
In the Rugby and district Sunday League Division Two, AFC Casey’s Reserves were held to a 2-2 draw at Royal Oak Rugby.
This was a hard fought contest with the Oak enjoying much of the play and could consider themselves unlucky not to bag all the points.
However joint man-of-the match awards for superb performances from Jordan Shingler and John-Joe Stampalokis ensured Casey’s shared the points.
Credit to Richard Rogers who scored goals in both halves to secure a hard earned draw.
Casey’s Reserves entertain The Red Lion at Staverton Park on Sunday (ko 11am).
