AFC Casey’s were 7-2 winners against The Webb of Rugby in their opening match in group four of The Rugby Hospitals League Cup.
There was no sign of rustiness on Casey’s return to action after a two-week break.
The Webb, who operate in division two of the Rugby Sunday League, were under pressure from the start.
It was the posts, bar and superb saves from the Webb keeper that prevented Casey’s taking an early lead.
However, Casey’s were 3-0 to the good by half-time thanks to two goals from Matty Farrell and one from Chris Trill.
Farrell completed his hat trick early in the second half, before The Webb hit back strongly to make the score 4-2.
Trill eased the Casey’s nerves to make the score 5-2, and Leigh Roberts headed home the sixth.
Richard Mansell then hammered hoime a penalty to complete the scoring.
Casey’s face far more difficult opposition in the next round of the Northants FA Sunday Trophy when they travel to Northampton Victoria on Sunday.
