SUNDAY FOOTBALL: Roberts and Eales seal win for Casey’s

AFC Casey’s continued their improving results in the Rugby and District Sunday League Division One as they won 2-0 at Prime Time Rugby.

Chris Shackelton and Tom Consentino at the heart of Casey’s central defence gave faultless performances, and they were support by Craig Archer and Chris Cowley, along with rookie goalkeeper Richard Mansell.

A tight first-half ended goalless, and it was a similar story after the break until Leigh Roberts goal broke the deadlock.

Stuart Clarke then set up Kevin Eales to make it 2-0 and seal the win.

Casey’s face Wellingborough Saxons in the NFA Sunday Trophy at Staverton Park this Sunday (ko 10.30am).

AFC Casey’s Reserve winners again, seeing off Red Lion of Hillmorton 6-1 in the Rugby and District Sunday League Division Two.

Casey’s took an early through Alex O’Connor and increased it through Sam Burke and Karl Burrell to make it 3-0 at half-time.

Red Lion pulled one back early in the second half, and Casey’s goalkeeper Jordan Shingler pulled off a string of saves to prevent further goals.

Martin Russ then made it 4-1 and further goals from O’Connor and John Jo Stompolokis sealed the victory.

The win leaves Casey’s in the top four of the division.
