AFC Casey’s returned to action after a long lay-off due to the wet weatheer and claimed a 5-3 win over London Calling from Rugby in the Rugby Hospitals Cup Group One.
Casey’s were 3-0 up just before half-time thanks to two from Matty Farrell and one from Ben Hyams.
Calling pulled one back just before the break, and straight from the kick-off made it 3-2.
They then equalised to make it 3-3, and only a string of good saves from Jason Noel in Casey’s goal kept it level.
Casey’s gradually regained the upper hand, and won the match through an own goal and a strike from Paul Beevor.
Casey’s Reserves had a much calmer Sunday morning as they thrashed The Bull Rugby 6-0 in the Rugby & District Sunday League Division Two.
It was 3-0 at half-time thanks to Richard Rogers (2) and Alex OConnor, and second-half goals from Matty Russ, Jareth Conway and JonJoe Stompolakis sealed the win.
This Sunday, the first team travel to Rugby Rocketts in the cup and the Reserves entertain Prince Of Wales.
