Striker Scott Cross was the returning hero as he scored a stoppage-time equaliser to earn Daventry Town an FA Trophy replay against Wingate & Finchley tomorrow night (Tues).
Cross, who re-signed for Town last week after a short stint with Kettering Town, was introduced as a second-half substitute on Saturday and made an instant impact.
Daventry looked to be heading for defeat as they trailed 1-0 to a first-half strike from the home side, but Cross popped up five minutes into time added to level the match at 1-1.
The replay will be staged at Communications Park tomorrow night, and is a game that Darran Foster’s men could probably do without ahead of their FA Cup first round clash at Sky Bet League Two side Chesterfield on Saturday.
But Foster is keen for the supporters to get down to the Wingate game and give the players a big send-off ahead of the weekend.
“We sold more than 250 tickets on Saturday for the FA Cup match at Chesterfield, let’s see you all on Tuesday for our FA Trophy replay,” said Foster.
“What a great chance for the supporters to show their support before the FA Cup .
“Come up and support the team and buy your ticket for next Saturday at the same time.”
