DAVENTRY Ladies need a minimum of only nine points from their last five games of the season to make certain of being promoted to the East Midlands Premier Division for the 2011-2012 campaign, writes Mike Tebbitt.
This happy state of affairs has arisen from the team scoring 24 goals without reply from only two matches played in the last eight days.
A 3-0 defeat of Raunds was followed on Sunday by a 21-0 demolition of bottom-of-the-table Oadby and Wigston.
A physical encounter with Raunds led to an early goal from Lauren Roberts as Daventry goalkeeper Sally Simpkin was somewhat under-employed.
Even so the home side did not score again themselves until Charlotte Copland doubled the advantage after 80 minutes.
Coventry’s Nicole Evans then made certain of victory with goal number three on making her last appearance this season on loan to Daventry who just could not stop scoring against a weak Oadby side four days later.
Kerry Luckett personally scored 11 times to take her seasonal tally to 41 (Tom Berwick eat your heart out!) as 10 first-half goals were followed by 11 in the second!
There was a hat-trick too for Kelly Worthington and two goals apiece for Jess Holley and Copland.
