Striker Clive Platt and right-winger Chris Hackett will be included in the Cobblers squad for Saturday’s game at Southend United after completing their recoveries from injury.
But central-defender Matt Heath will have a fitness test on Friday to establish the seriousness of the calf strain he picked up the warm-up for the Newport County game last weekend.
If Heath is not given the green light to travel to Southend, it is likely that Aidy Boothroyd will select the same 11 that started the Newport game.
Lewis Hornby remains sidelined with an issue with a disc in his back, while Kelvin Langmead and Alex Nicholls are both in the gym but will be out for some time.
The club hope to receive captain Langmead into training in the first week of November while Nicholls is not due to rejoin the main group until January.
