Paul Oddy says it was his decision to step down as Woodford United boss.

Oddy has returned to his role as youth-team manager at Byfield Road, leaving Jon Inwood in charge of first-team affairs.

Chairman Andy Worrall was in control of the side for the 10-0 defeat against Ashford Town last Saturday, while Inwood joined him in the dugout for the 4-0 defeat to Daventry on Monday.

The Reds are still without a point this season, having lost all 35 of their Southern League Division One Central games.

And Oddy has now decided it’s time to pour his efforts into helping the Under-18 team win the Northants Midweek Senior Youth League.

He said: “I wanted to step down and it was totally my decision. I went away over Easter because I needed a break. It was getting to me and the players.

“Jon is a passionate guy, who will be committed to seeing it through to the end of the season.”
