Daventry Town fought back from 2-0 down to claim a 2-2 draw against Bedford Town in the Evo-Stik Southern League Division One Central.

Things looked bleak for Town as the struggling Eagles eased into a 2-0 lead before half-time, but a fortuitous strike from Ashley Deeney and a late effort from Anthony O’Connor squared things up.

Town endured a nightmare start and were 1-0 down in the opening minute as Jeff Woodward headed home.

Bedford, who dominated then first half, then went 2-0 up through Paul Cooper.

Daventry manager Allan Smart made changes and brought on new signing Ryan Da Silva and James Hancocks, and Daventry started the second half much brighter.

They got back into the game when Deeney’s corner went directly into the goal to makie it 2-1.

Then, with eight minutes remaining, O’Connor showed great composure to finish when put through one-on-one.
