Daventry Town boss Darran Foster is hoping his side can take advantage of Godalming’s Spanish distraction when the two sides meet at Communications Park on Friday night (ko 8pm).
Foster has agreed to bring the fixture, which was scheduled for Saturday, forward by 24 hours so Godalming can take a trip to Villareal for the weekend.
The G’s have been offered the chance to use the La Liga side’s facilities as manager Neil Baker is good friends with a coach at the Spanish club.
Foster was wary of standing in the way of the opposition’s weekend away, and he now hopes Daventry can profit from it.
“If we’d have said no to them they would have come up all guns blazing on Saturday,” said Foster.
“As it is, they’ve got a two-hour drive during the week.
“We’ve got to put it all in perspective.
“They’re going to have their minds on their trip and that could benefit us.
“They would have come up gunning for us and it could have gone against us, but hopefully this way it will go for us.”
Meanwhile, Daventry have completed the signing of wide midfielder Marcus Jackson from Romulus.
Jackson made his debut in the 1-1 draw at Slough Town last weekend.
