Former Celtic winger Paddy McCourt is set to play for Peterborough United in their pre-season friendly against the Cobblers at Sixfields on Saturday (ko 3pm).

The Northern Ireland international is on trial at London Road having been released by the Hoops, and will play a part in the match at Sixfields.

The Peterborough website is also reporting that Grant McCann, Tommy Rowe, Kgosi Ntlhe, Michael Bostwick and Tyrone Barnett will all feature against Town, after being rested for the 4-2 defeat at Mansfield Town on Wednesday.

Joe Newell, who suffered a dead leg at the One Call Stadium, is unlikely to be involved.

Posh manager Darren Ferguson told www.theposh.com: “It will be a good test for us, just as Mansfield was on Wednesday.

“I am sure there will be a competitive edge as it is a local derby and it is a good game for us.”

Peterborough have sold close to 200 tickets in advance for the friendly fixture.
