Harry Beckley was the goal hero as Woodford United claimed their first win in 18 months, seeing off Blackstones 2-1 in UCL Division One.
The Reds, who last season were playing in Division One Central of the Southern League, had lost every game they had played since April, 2012, an amazing run of 65 defeats in league and cup.
But Mitch Austin’s men brought that depressing run to an end at the weekend, with Beckley scoring the dramatic winner five minutes from time.
Stones had the better of the early stages which were played at a low tempo but chances were rare until the closing stages of the first half.
A Kris Kefford cross struck the bar for Blackstones while sat the other end Stefan Morris broke clear but his chip went wide.
Woodford took a 43rd minute lead, Craig Fowkes and Eddie Stewart combining to find Beckley in space and he fired past keeper Tom Bedford.
On 45 minutes Stones were level, Addie Staffieri beating a couple of defenders before finishing with a shot just inside the far post.
The second half was livelier with Eathan Curtis testing Bedford and fierce strikes from Kieran Arthur and Staffieri forcing smart near post saves from Dom Roggero.
Steve Grimley’s long range effort forced Bedford to save again and Beckley then missed a chance to double his tally.
The decisive goal arrived after 85 minutes, Beckley breaking away on the left and cutting inside a defender before crashing his shot past Bedford.
