Daventry Town had a great weekend in Division One Central of the Calor League.

Darran Foster’s men were comfortable 3-0 winners over AFC Hayes at Communications Park, while the top two teams, Rugby Town and Dunstable Town, both lost.

It means that Daventry are now fourth in the table, 13 points behind leaders Rugby with SEVEN games in hand.

Against Hayes, Daventry opened the scoring on 11 minutes when Liam Dolman converted from the penalty spot after Ashley Robinson had been fouled.

The game swung completely in Daventry’s favour just before half-time when Hayes had Charlie Goode sent off for fouling Tom James on the edge of their own penalty area, and James added insult to injury by curling the free-kick into the net to make it 2-0.

Daventry made it 3-0 and wrapped up the three points on 77 minutes, Robinson tapping the ball into the empty net after a mix up in the Hayes defence.

Daventry are back in action on Wednesday night when they travel to Leighton Buzzard to take on Aylesbury United.
