Daventry Town boss Darran Foster says the attitude of his players has been ‘fantastic’ this season.

Town have enjoyed a good campaign in the Southern League Division One Central and reached the final of the Northants Hillier Senior Cup.

They lost out in the showpiece, suffering a 3-1 defeat to Corby Town, but have since bounced back with two successive league wins.

And though they have narrowly missed out on a play-off spot in the league, Foster has been hugely impressed with the determination of his players.

He said: “The attitude of the lads really has been fantastic.

“The point total we’ve got in the league would probably have been enough for the play-offs in the last 10 years.

“We’ve lost nine games all year and I can’t fault the lads in any way.

“It’s disappointing to fall short of the play-offs but it’s been a massive learning curve for us.”

Daventry are looking to finish the season in style tomorroe when they travel to Guildford City (ko 3pm).
