There is a new name on the NFA Hillier Senior Cup after Daventry Town beat UCL Premier Division side Cogenhoe United 3-0 at Sixfields on Tuesday night.
Daventry were well on top in the first half, peppering the woodwork but only scoring once through Scott Cross after 33 minutes.
The second half was a different story as Cogenhoe lifted their game, but they were unable to find an equaliser.
Daventry found space on the break to seal their win with further goals from Cross after 85 minutes and Luke Keen a minute into added time.
Town boss Darran Foster said: “The team have made us proud tonight and I feel the town of Daventry should also be proud of its football club.
“The lads have had put in a fantastic performance to win this trophy, Cogenhoe were a very good team.”
The win means Daventry, who were beaten 3-1 by Corby Town in last season’s final, will now host Northampton Town in the summer to challenge for the Maunsell Cup.
