COMBINATION FOOTBALL: Brown scores six as Weedon hammer OGs

Ashley Brown scored an incredible SIX goals as Weedon romped to as 10-2 win at Old Grammarians in the Teamwork Sports & Trophy Centre Northants Combination Division One KO Cup.

Joe Shirley score two, while there were also singles for Daniel Renshaw and Benjamin Drinkwater.

Daventry Drayton Grange also coasted into the next round as they won 5-0 at Clipston.

In division two, 10-man West Haddon Albion picked up a useful point as they drew 22-2 at Walgrave Amber. Haddon’s scorers were Charlie Davies and Daniel Smith.

Weedon’s reserve team completed a day of misery for Old Grammarians as they beat the Wellingborough side’s second string 6-0 in reserve division one. Matthew Farrell led the way with a hat-trick, while there was a double for Chris Cowley and one for Luke Harris.

In reserve division two, West Haddon Albion’s second string secured a rare point in a 3-3 draw with Gleneagles, their goals coming from Nick Burnell, Karl Shingler and Joe Smith.

Second-placed Drayton Grange suffered a surprise 5-1 hammering at the hands of leaders Corby Shamrock.
