BUCKBY succumbed to a plucky performance from Newport Pagnell on Tuesday night.
The visitors had to overcome a serious injury to midfielder Richard Armstrong in the first-half.
Buckby took the lead as early as the third minute when Fazel Koriya sprung the Newport offside trap to beat the keeper.
But the lead was not to last as a ball through the middle was flicked on and Lawless tucked the ball past Darren Watts to level.
A shot from Dan Quigley was charged down before Fazel Koriya blasted over after being set up by Greg Ling.
On 27 minutes a clash of heads between Dan Quigley and Richard Armstrong resulted in a lengthy delay as the Newport player was eventually taken from the field with a face injury that resulted in a visit to hospital.
Pagnell broke away in injury time of the first-half and caught Buckby cold with poor marking. This led to a cross from the right headed in by Darren Dykes to give the visitors a 2-1 half-time advantage.
Pagnell increased their lead on 52 minutes when Lawless ran unchallenged to score with ease.
Well done to former player Darren Lynch in his first season as manager and Long Buckby wished Richard Armstrong a speedy recovery from his injury.
