Daventry United playing last season

DAVENTRY United (alias Ford Sports) are to fold at the end of the season with manager Darran Foster poised to become Mark Kinsella’s new number two at sister club Daventry Town.

Founded in 1968, Ford were twice UCL Premier Division champions under Darren Wood in 2000 and again two years later with Shane Geary in charge.

But they were forced to groundshare at Communications Park when the Ford Motor Company pulled the plug at the Royal Oak a couple of years ago.

Foster’s assistant Neil Champelovier is expected to become Daventry Town’s new chief scout with Kinsella’s current sidekick Andy Reece switching to a coaching role.

Other members of the extended Foster family are also expected to take on backroom jobs with the Southern League outfit.
