Steelbacks star White was shocked by Bears hat-trick

Graeme White admits he didn't know he had taken a hat-trick in the Steelbacks' emphatic success against Birmingham Bears on Tuesday night.

Northants registered a 74-run victory at the County Ground, sealing their place in the quarter-finals of the NatWest T20 Blast in the process.

The Steelbacks made 200 for five, with Adam Rossington registering an impressive 85, before the bowlers took control to leave the Bears floundering.

White claimed figures of four for 20 and had Ateeq Javid, Jeetan Patel and Keith Barker dismissed in the space of three deliveries across two overs.

But the spinner didn’t know that the Barker dismissal, from the second ball of his fourth over, had secured him a memorable treble as the Bears were all out for just 126.

“I was literally in my own little world,” White said.

“I was just trying to get through that over because when it’s your last you always like to try to get through it nice and quick with not many runs off it.

“I wasn’t with it and it all happened so quickly.

“When you’re running from the other side of the field, you’re trying to pay attention on that front so I didn’t really know it was on.

“It’s nice and it’s a good win.”
