“I am very honoured and excited to be awarded this event in recognition for my years of service to the club and the sport in general.

“I would also like to thank the members and supporters throughout my career.

“This testimonial event marks an opportunity to announce my retirement from all forms of cricket.

“I have had a long and wonderful career that spanned over 20 years and across too many countries to mention.

“I look forward to the next part of my career.”

Northants coach David Ripley was quick to praise Hall, and said: “It was a privilege to work with Andrew an absolute warrior of a competitor.

“When the going got tough, he certainly got going with bat or ball.

“Northants Cricket has benefited enormously from Andrew’s skill and determination, and I know the cricketing public will come along and give him the send off he deserves.”

Former County team-mate and captain Stephen Peters said: “I’m delighted to hear the announcement that Andrew has been awarded a benefit dinner by the club.

“I played many years with Hally, and can honestly say I haven’t played with many more whole-hearted cricketers.

“A great career at both international and county level, Hally was a warrior on the field and gave no quarter.

“I wish Hally a great night and I hope the loyal supporters give him the fantastic support he deserves.”

The testimonal evening will include a three course meal, guest appearances and an auction.
