Battling Blades scoop KO Cup success

DRAYTON Grange Blades U12s retained the KO Cup with a 2–0 victory over Hackleton Harriers.

Blades had recently been beaten in a close contest in the County Cup final (against Malborne Utd of the Peterborough and District League), but went one better this time.

They started well and took the lead in the 11th minute with full-back Danny Alcock forcing the ball in from a corner.

Blades continued to be the better side and added a second six minutes later. A flowing move starting at their own 18-yard box ended with Nathan Butler’s fine finish into the corner.

All the players continued to play well in the second half and they comfortably saw out victory for the second successive year.

Congratulations to the players and thanks to the fantastic support the team received. Special mention to Geoff Amos coaches for supplying transport.
