THIS week started with Long Buckby RFC being voted Community Club of the Year in Daventry District Sports Awards and their three senior coaches, Duncan Frankland, Dave Clarke and Ian Hobbs, were runners-up for the Coach of the Year.

Long Buckby arrived at Bugbrooke knowing this league encounter would not be an easy one. Bugbrooke are riding high at the top the league with an unbeaten record.
The omens were looking good for the visitors when Bugbrooke over kicked the start and Buckby held their own in the ensuing scrum.
After six minutes Buckby were in front when skipper Matt Gibbs took the captain’s lead with a well-earned try.
The home side opened their tally on the twelfth minute with a penalty and then with a converted try on half-time. At the turnaround the score was 15 point to 7 to the home side.
The game restarted with two changes for Buckby, however Bugbrooke were now on the ascendency.
They looked dangerous every time they ran at Buckby and their kicking was good. On several occasions hard fought for ground was given back to Bugbrooke by a single kick.
The home side’s ability to off load well also put the visitors under pressure.
The game continued with Bugbrooke demonstrating why they are the top, however for a large proportion of the game Buckby showed they have every right to be in this league.
Long Buckby Seconds beat Stewart & Lloyds 34-23
