Tense time in Charity Cup

This week saw the quarter finals of the Charity Cup and in the first game The George hosted The Wheatsheaf.
Andy Teale (140x2, 100) took the first game with a win over Tom Kendall (100x4) only for Dave Harris (100) to beat
Adam Cox (100) to level
the match.

The Wheatsheaf took the next two games with wins for Ian Stewart (100x2) over Richard O'Mall
ey followed by Rachel Lewis (100x2, 85, 81) over Gordon Eyles.

In the doubles Rachel Lewis (140, 100x2) and Dave Harris (100x3) overcame Andy Teale (140x2, 100) and Adam Cox to make the score 4-1.
Gordon Eyles and Richard O'Malley (140, 100) took the final game with a win over Ian Stuart (100) and Tom Kendall (140, 100) but it was The Wheatsheaf who progressed to the semi final.

Game two saw The Con Club A entertain The Falconer. The away side took the first two games with wins for Terry Griffin (140, 122, 100) over Ray Hobrow (100x4) followed by Clive Hart (100x4) over Brian Seal. Ivan Lester (127) beat Keith Chapman to make it
2-1 only for Richie Elliott (100x3) to beat Stuart Coe Snr (100x3) and restore the two-game advantage.

The Cons then took both doubles matches with wins for Ivan Lester (125, 100x2) and Ray Hobrow (100x2) over Terry Griffin and Keith Chapman (117) followed by Brian Seal and Stuart Coe Snr over Clive Hart (140) and Richie Elliott.

This made the score 4-4 sending the match into a deciding team game which The Falconer won to book a place in the semis.

The next game was at The Pike and Eel versus Long Buckby FC. The away side took the first game with a win for Ray Feasey (135) over Nigel Turland (100, 121). Jimmy Hill (100x2) levelled the match by beating Pete Shirley (100). Gary Birch (160, 128, 100) beat Mick Feasey (134, 100) and John Gaul (140, 100x2) overcame Scott Shirley (120) to make it 3-1 to the Pike.

Ray Feasey (100x2) and Mick Feasey (121, 100) beat Jimmy Hill (100x2) and Nigel Turland (140) to make it 3-2 only for John Gaul (140, 100) and Gary Birch (124, 100x2) to beat Pete Shirley (121) and Scott Shirley (100) to make it 4-2 and secure a place in the semi-finals for The Pike.

The final game saw The Workers host Long Buckby FC A. The home side took the first game with a win for Matt Edgar (140x2, 125,100) over Alan Tegg (140). Long Buckby then took the next three games through Joe Gammage (130) over Andy Winters (100x4), Ged Berrill (140, 100x2) over Ray Jones (140, 121x2) and Ian Bow (100x2) over Richard Denis (140, 100x3). The Workers replied by taking both doubles games with wins for Matt Edgar (140, 100x) and Richard Denis (100x2) over Alan Tegg (135, 100x3) and Joe Gammage followed by Ray Jones (140x2, 125, 123, 100, 110f) and Taff Hartley (140, 100x2) over Ged Berrill (100) and Ian Bow (140, 100x5) making the score
4-4. The Workers then took the deciding team game and the final place in the semis.

Due to Long Buckby and The Pike and Eel finishing with equal points and averages a play off survival game was played on June 3. The Pike were victorious and remain in League One next season.
Long Buckby will be in League Two.
