Councillor Alan Hills, portfolio holder for community, culture and leisure at Daventry District Council, said: "The Daventry District Sports Awards are the chance for us to show our appreciation for the talent and achievements of the district's sporting talent.

"I would like to call on all clubs, schools, parents and friends who know an individual or team that has achieved sporting excellence, personal achievement, good sportsmanship or other outstanding contributions to sport in the last year to nominate them for an award.

"Daventry district has got a wealth of sporting talent and this is the chance for every one of them to get the recognition they deserve."

Please note: All nominations should only be sent to Daventry District Council's Recreation Team at Contracts House, High March, Daventry, NN11 4HB, to arrive by 12pm on Friday, September 11, 2009.
