Big-hitting Mainak Ray knocked his way to a record-breaking double century in Braunston's high-scoring clash against Evenley B.
Despite some decent Evenly bowling, Ray dominated the game as he raced to his highest ever score of 204, which is believed to be the highest individual score in the South Northants League.
Eventually, he retired to allow some of the younger membe
rs of the team to have a bat and both Isom and Lewis Batchelar took the opportunity to record their best scores at this level.
Batting first Braunston scored 70 runs in the first 10 overs, but wickets were falling at an alarming rate.
In an attempt to shore up the innings and give the inform Mainak Ray some support, skipper Adam O'Connor promoted Dick Stapley up the batting order. This proved to be very effective as the pair put on a sixth-wicket partnership of 91.
Shaun Harnett continued to support Ray as they put on 67, as did Terry Isom with another 60 plus partnership.
Braunston's final score of 308 for seven put them in a commanding position and Evenly had no answer when it was their turn to bat and were bowled out for just 53. Darren Cox, Pete Sarson, Harnett and Zaff Nawaz each took a couple of wickets and Batchelar completed a fine game with another run out.
This win keeps Braunston on top of the league and in confident mood before their all important top of the table clash with Dunchurch next week.
A finger injury sustained by skipper Mark Daynes behind the stumps necessitated a change at the top of the Preston Capes batting order and Capes duly cruised to a convincing victory over Croughton by ten wickets.
Richard Parsons was the beneficiary of the captain's misfortune with an unbeaten and largely untroubled 68 accompanied by the ever patient Derek Bull with 43.
Earlier, Croughton, who have clearly watched a lot of television this week, ran well between the wickets to keep the scoreboard ticking and temporarily fluster the home side.
Wickets began to fall however when Anthony Franks (3-23) and Ian Holmes (2-17) came into the attack to prevent the developing tide from assuming tsunami proportions.
Mahmood struck a lusty and hasty 32 toward the end of the innings but a final tally of 123 was never likely to be enough and Capes reached their target with nearly ten overs to spare.
