FIVE of Daventry Athletic Club's promising youngsters have represented Northamptonshire Schools in Inter-Counties competitions in the past couple of weeks.
In a meeting held at Alexander Stadium, Birmingham, against nine other counties the club had four representatives. Niklas Aarre (William Parker School) won the U15 boys' discus with a throw of 36.52m, Sam Meyler (Guilsborough School) finished second
in the U15 boys' long jump with a personal best distance of 5.85m. Keiran Russ (Danetre School) came fifth in the U15 boys' 80m hurdles (12.2) and 13-year-old Georgia Webster (Campion School) finished eighth in the U15 girls' 75m hurdles (12.3).

Niklas, Sam and Keiran have been selected to represent the county at the prestigious English Schools' Championships to be held at Alexander Stadium this weekend.

A measure of this achievement is the fact that it has been more than 20 years since Daventry Athletic Club had three representatives at this event.

Keiran, Sam and Matt Clarke (William Parker School) recently represented Northants in an inter-counties multi-event competition at Chelmsford and won the U15 boys' team pentathlon. This qualifies them for the English Schools' multi-event finals at Stoke on September 18.
It was a great day individually too as Keiran won the event, Sam finished second and Matt came fifth.

Sam had the consolation of setting a club record in the 80m hurdles with a time of 11.9 secs but Keiran won the event with club record 2682 points total which included a club record of 11.73m in the shot.
Keiran's other performances were 80m hurdles - 12.2, long jump - 5.26m, high jump - 1.59m and 800m - 2.13.8.
