About the Gusher:

The Daventry Express is nicknamed the Gusher after a pre-war train which never made more than five miles an hour up the gradient between Daventry and Weedon - and was dubbed the Daventry Express.
Because this effort filled the countryside with fumes and smoke, the train was called the Gusher, and so the paper became the Gusher as well.
