YOUNGSTERS held a party to mark the end of youth club sessions funded by the district council.

Children in Barby finished 14 weeks of youth club at Barby Cricket Pavillion with a party on Wednesday last week.

The sessions were funded by Daventry District Council who paid for the RealiZe Network to run the sessions, and Barby Parish Council who paid for venue hire.

Catherine Camp, clerk of the parish council, said: “We care for our children and wanted them to have organised professional services in Barby.

“It can be very difficult for them to access services in rural areas especially as there is no public transport in the evenings.”

All activities were planned by the RealiZe Youth Committee made up of local teenagers who are encouraged to participate in community matters.

Committee member Will Land, 13, said: “I am a founding member of RealiZe Youth Club, and it has been great to have a youth club in Barby as well as in Kilsby.

“We’ve had nearly 60 people coming because we were able to include children under 12 years old. It’s great that everyone can have fun together in a good venue that we hope we can use again.”

RealiZe Youth Club runs at Kilsby school every Thursday from 6.30pm, and football coaching at Kilsby Recreation Ground at 11am every Saturday. For further details contact Shailen on 01788 878 964 or realize@talktalk.net.
