YOUNGSTERS took a step back in time at the weekend at a fire engine day.

The Supporters of Daventry Library arranged for an old-fashioned fire engine to be put on display outside the library on North Street.

Children were treated to arts and crafts in the exhibition room and a visit from old firefighters in uniform.

And fighfighter’s helmets were also giving out to the youngsters.

Emily Truslove, from Daventry Library, said: “There were loads of kids coming in and out throughout the day.

“We must have had in excess of 45 children in total, plus the adults who were with them.

“There was a colouring area and a table for gluing and sticking.

“Many of the children made paper fires and lots of other things.

“They all loved the fire engines and equipment and the siren went off quite few times which they enjoyed.

“It went really well and was a great event for the library to have.”
