YOUNGSTERS aiming to become the next Lennox Lewis or Amir Khan took part in a summer boxing camp at Daventry Leisure Centre.
Coaches from Daventry Phoenix ABC taught the youngsters the basics of boxing at the three-day camp.
Alex Le Guevel, sports development co-ordinator for Everyone Active, said: “The boxing camp proved to be a hit again this summer with around 18 youngsters learning a variety of boxing skills.
“The group were taught basic punch combinations, defensive technique and skipping footwork, with some of the more experienced children getting to grips with some light sparring.
“Feedback from parents and children alike was extremely positive and it was great to see some of the group expressing a serious interest in joining Jeff Gonsalves and his team at Daventry Phoenix ABC.”
The leisure centre, on Lodge Road, also has other summer camps for youngsters going on over the next couple of weeks.
From Monday, August 13 until Friday, August 17 there will be basketball sessions from 10am until 3pm at a cost of £40 for the week or £12 per day.
And on the same days there will be a dance camp at the leisure centre from 12pm until 4pm with the same costs.
