Led by popular botanist Brian Laney, the special free Wild Flower Walk will take place on Sunday October 2 leaving from the visitor centre at Daventry Country Park at 11am.

The walk will focus on the plants of the ‘drawdown’ – the specialised flora that develops over a very limited time window as the reservoir levels diminish at the end of the summer, and flourish briefly before levels rise again with the autumn rains.

Brian will explain how rare plants in the county are periodically monitored, and the use of GPS to record exact locations so they can be found again.

By definition, this walk is likely to be muddy – walkers are advised that wellingtons and old clothes will be appropriate.
