A meeting held on Saturday to look at the future of Weedon has been hailed as a success by the organisers.
The Weedon Bec Parish Council Neighbourhood Planning group arranged the public consultation day to outline its proposals to the community at the village hall.
It was set up as the next stage of putting together a neighbourhood plan for the village.
Ann Ranshaw, who is the vice chairman of the steering group and also sits on the parish council said: “The day went extremely well and it was really nice to see a lot of young families coming along.
“I think the majority of the people were very impressed by the display boards that were shown and for the plans for the village. We did have one or two comments about housing in the village, which is always going to be a contentious issue, but I would say 95 per cent of the people who came approved the plans.”
The community day also saw youngsters get the chance to meet two of their favourite television characters in Peppa Pig and Bob the Builder.
Cllr Ranshaw added: “There was a lot of children who came along for the day to see the characters, which was really nice.
“The whole thing had a lovely community feeling about it.”
The plan is looking at the type of development which might be welcomed by the village and the way it can shape the future layout of the village.
It will also look at improving the facilities which will be on offer for the village.
Cllr Ranshaw said: “We will now be working with Kirkwells to put together the plan in much more detail, including possible sites for housing.
“We hope that the neighbourhood plan will be ready to present to Weedon Bec Parish Council in January and from there it will have to go through several groups, including Daventry District Council and the planning inspectorate, before it can be adopted.”
People can give their feedback on the neighbourhood plan until September 30.
