MOTORISTS travelling through the M1/M6/A14 interchange near Daventry are being warned of a new 50 mph limit.
Average speed cameras are in operation along both a mile-and-a-half stretch of the M1 and a mile-and-a-half stretch from the M6 to the A14. They will be operational for the duration of the three-year £191 million scheme to improve the junction, and the Highways Agency says they will protect workers.
This stretch of road is one of the most congested in the country – over 140,000 vehicles use the intersection every day. The current “dumbbell” roundabout causes tailbacks and has been the scene of several fatal and serious accidents. The roadworks will improve congestion and safety while also helping to separate local traffic from long distance traffic.
