Van drivers in Daventry area warned not to leave tools in their vehicles overnight

Police are warning van drivers not to store tools in their vehicles overnight following a spate of thefts in south Northamptonshire.

Several vans have been targeted in the past few days across a number of areas including Daventry, Towcester, Brackley and Deanshanger with a large quantity of tools taken.

Det Sgt Matt Conroy, from the force’s Serious Acquisitive Crime Team, said: “We are urging owners to remove tools when they park up for the evening and to display stickers saying that no tools are stored in the van overnight. These are simple measures which will help to alleviate this problem.”

Police patrols will be stepped up in the area with officers and PCSOs checking on van owners to ensure they store their tools away from their vehicles while not at work.

Anyone who has any information about thefts of tools from vans in south Northamptonshire can call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
