TWO men from Daventry, and one from Rugby, were arrested on Tuesday morning on suspicion of metal theft.
Police were called to Lower Hillmorton Road in Rugby in the early hours of this morning (Tuesday) following reports of men on the roof of the old college building.
Several emergency calls were made to police just after midnight this morning.
Witnesses told police that they could see two men on the roof of the old Warwickshire College in Lower Hillmorton Road.
Another witness also said they could see a ladder at the back of the building.
Officers arrived on the scene, where a large amount of lead had been taken from the roof.
As well as police on the ground, a sniffer dog also attended and the police helicopter was called out to assist.
The suspected thieves reportedly ran away from the scene, leading to a police chase around the area.
Nearby neighbours began calling police to say they had seen men running through their back gardens in the Lower Hillmorton Road area.
After a search lasting nearly an hour, three men were arrested on suspicion of metal theft.
One man is from Rugby, while the other two are from Daventry.
