People can try bowls for free at Daventry Town Bowling Club.
The club is holding an open event on Thursday June 11 from 3pm at its base at the Stefen Hill Sports Centre off Western Avenue in Daventry.
The event is taking place as part of celebrations marking the first anniversary of the Bowls Daventry scheme.
For those who want a little more competition, there is opportunity to play to win the Litchfield shield from 5.30pm (registration) to 8.30pm (end of presentation).
There are different forms of bowls to try for all abilities from 3pm to 5.30pm. Then from 6pm to 8pm games will be played for the Litchfield Shield, with the final bowls event being the presentation of the shield at 8.15pm.
In attendance at the event will be the Mayor of Daventry, Councillor Wendy Randall.
Councillor Alan Hills, community, culture and leisure portfolio holder, expressed Daventry District Council’s support for events promoting sport.
He said: “It has been great to see Bowls Daventry enjoy so much success in its first year and achieve recognition in the Daventry District Sports Awards. This council supports all sports and we sincerely hope this event goes well and that local people give bowls a go as part of this free taster session.”
