NORTHAMPTONSHIRE County Council (NCC) has enjoyed ‘success’ in carrying out repairs to roads and footpaths during the past year, a report will say next week.
NCC’s new highways maintenance initiative was introduced in April 2010 to combat the deteriorating state of roads.
The report to NCC’s cabinet will say 90 per cent of all work carried out is now in the ‘long-term permanent and semi-permanent type’.
It adds that this resulted in a 23 per cent drop in reported defects on roads and footpaths in the first year.
Early indications show that there has also been a reduction in claims against the council caused by poor road surfaces.
