Train company saves on carbon emissions

LONDON Midland has hit a new recycling high, saving 80 per cent of all waste left at its railway stations, depots and offices from landfill.

The train operator, which serves Long Buckby, has put recycling bins at stations and sorts all other waste.

By recycling 80 per cent of waste, the company has reduced its carbon emissions from waste disposal by 680 tonnes each year. The company aims to reduce carbon emissions by 20 per cent per passenger by 2015.
