Traffic concerns brings to a halt new village homes

PLANS for nine new homes and business units have been turned down by Daventry District Council (DDC).

The proposal to renovate Old Station Yard in Station Road, Brixworth, was put forward by Trustess of Principle Systems based in Huddersfield.

It was refused permission at a meeting of DDC’s planning committee on Wednesday, December 15.

The decision was made despite planning officers recommending the plans for approval. A report had also described the area as being unkempt for the past 20 years.

Claudia Favell-Wild, from Brixworth, said at the meeting: “All of us who live near this development are quite concerned.

“If this plan was to go ahead, there would be even more HGV traffic going through the village. The impact on the village would be overwhelming.”

There was also objections from neighbours and Brixworth Parish Council who pointed out the roads would not cope with the potential increase in traffic the development would bring.
