IT’S all cisterns go at Daventry District Council after one of its public loos got top marks in national awards.
The conveniences in New Street were deemed to be well above bog standard and deserving five stars by the Loo of The Year Awards judges.
Every year Daventry District Council enters the toilets in the nationally recognised awards.
Inspectors then make unannounced checks of all the nominated premises.
They take cleanliness, condition and available facilities into account, rating 105 different aspects of toilet provision.
Although the New Street toilets have received four out of five stars in the past, this is the first time they have been awarded a full five stars.
And now the council is hoping the five star grade isn’t just a flash in the pan.
Cllr Ken Melling, portfolio holder for resources, said: “We’re delighted that the New Street public toilets have been awarded top marks.
“The rating reflects the fact that we take pride in keeping all our public services to a high standard, and we hope that we can now keep on a roll and continue to maintain these high standards.”
The New Street toilets are cleaned by Enterprise Managed Services, on behalf of the council.
