A robot called Titan and Alison Hammond from ITV’s This Morning will be among the stars turning out for the Christmas lights switch on in Daventry.
The event, organised by Daventry Town Council will be held on Saturday November 23 and runs from 2pm to 5pm in Bowen Square.
The robot is 7ft 9ins tall and was developed in 2004 by Cyberstein Robots. It’s unique blend of comedy, street theatre and music creates a show which has led to appearances on TV such as Big Brother, Daybreak and the Gadget Show. The robot has also worked with an impressive list of celebrities including Will.i.am, Rihanna , Will Smith and Jackie Chan. He will be performing to the crowd from 2pm to 2.30pm.
Stage performances will showcase local talent and come from Active Dance, Daventry Music Centre, Academy No 1 and Performers Academy, with local band Dead Frequency rounding up the show.
Both the Royal & Derngate and the Deco theatres in Northampton will be sending some of their stars with Alison due to appear in Jack and the Beanstalk at the Deco.
Street entertainers will be balloon modelling and face painting and the Town Crier will be on hand to keep everyone informed of proceedings.
The Christmas lights will be switched on at 4.30pm.
