A DAY of fun and games was held to mark the fifth birthday of a village Sure Start centre.

Woodford Halse Children’s Centre, which is based at the village primary school, invited the community along to join in with the celebrations.

Care leader Chris Batchelor said: “We were celebrating our birthday and were so pleased to see so many people come along.

“We were very lucky with the weather, it was the only dry day all week. We were celebrating all the hard work we’ve done and we hope it continues.

“The children all loved the magician and we had a bouncy castle and face painting. We also had a lovely birthday cake donated. Lots of parents came along as well as the children from the school nursery. We look forward to continuing our work with the community.”
