CHILDREN can kick off the summer with a wide range of sporting and leisure activities available throughout the school holidays.
A variety of events have been organised by Daventry District Council (DDC) and Everyone Active, who run the town’s leisure centre to provide sport camps, science days and arts and crafts activities.
DDC’s summer of fun starts with Monday mini adventures starting next week and running on July 30 and August 6. All of these events will take place at Daventry Country Park between 10am and noon.
It is also organising Wicked Wednesdays at Daventry Leisure Centre which will run every Wednesday from 10am to 3pm.
Events include interactive science experiments, arts and crafts sessions, wet and wild fun in the pool and an Olympic-themed grafitti art workshop.
Everyone Active will also be running sports camps during the summer holidays.
Among the sports on offer are football, tae kwon do, cricket, boxing, fencing, volleyball, tennis and rugby.
The council’s community, culture and leisure portfolio holder Cllr Alan Hills said: “It can sometimes be difficult keeping the kids occupied over the summer holidays so we hope these free activities will really help to keep the boredom at bay.
“They offer something for everyone and I would encourage as many families as possible take advantage of these sessions and have a brilliant time.”
